Your work will be a combination of ongoing development of the ESG system including maintenance and governance.

Job description

The Sustainability Consultant will play a key role in supporting and advancing environmental sustainability efforts at Royal Greenland. This role includes developing and maintaining sustainability management systems, contributing to strategic initiatives, and providing support across the organization for sustainability-related matters. The consultant will also – in coordination with the stakeholders collaborate with the regulatory authorities to ensure the organization meets its environmental objectives and aligns with sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sustainability Management:
    • Assist in the development and maintenance of the company’s sustainability management system.
    • Contribute to the strategic development of sustainability at Royal Greenland through dialogues with managers and key employees.
    • Facilitate discussions to build capacity and promote sustainability initiatives across professional areas within the organization.
  • Environmental Management:
    • Collaborate with HR to support the development of an integrated environmental and health & safety management system.
    • Provide support on regulatory environmental matters, including maintaining dialogue with government authorities.
  • Sustainability Reporting:
    • Contribute to the preparation of the annual sustainability report, focusing on both qualitative and quantitative environmental standards.
    • Support the development of a digital platform for collecting and reporting quantitative sustainability data aligned with CSRD requirements (E1–E5).
    • Assist with customer surveys and audits by providing accurate environmental content.
    • Help establish a systematic approach for supporting factory audits, including compliance with Smeta and IWAY standards.
  • Planning and Project Development:
    • Assist in drafting policies, action plans, and project descriptions related to environmental matters such as climate change, circular economy, and biodiversity.
    • Help clarify governance structures for sustainability initiatives, including decision-making, execution, and evaluation processes.
  • Project Management:
    • Manage or support projects aimed at improving environmental sustainability, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and timely delivery.
  • Organizational Support:
    • Provide support to colleagues in other departments on sustainability-related matters as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in environmental management, sustainability reporting, or management consulting with a focus on strategic development and project support.
  • Experience in building processes and reporting standards and developing organizational knowledge on standard operating procedures for compliance.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across functions and hold others accountable through strategic influencing instead of hierarchy.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Business Administration, or a related field (advanced Master’s or PhD degree preferred).
  • Mandatory English fluency at a professional level (additional Danish and Greenlandic language preferred).
